BSF Meghalaya nabbed smuggling duo with Bangladeshi Taka
BSF Meghalaya apprehended two Indian nationals carrying 3,40,000 Bangladeshi Taka near the International border of East Khasi Hills district on May 9th, 2024.
Acting on specific tip-off, troops of 4 Bn BSF conducted a special operation near the bordering area of BOP Nayabazar. During the operation, BSF troops noticed suspicious movement of two Indian nationals along the Indo-Bangladesh border. Upon conducting a search, BSF recovered a bag containing 3,40,000 Bangladeshi Taka in the denomination of 500 and after that apprehended both.
On preliminary questioning, both have revealed their identities as Balanus Mawroh r/o village Nongjri Wahsier and Enterness Khongsni r/o village Nongjritluh of East Khasi Hills district and BD currency carried by them was meant for cross-border illegal activities. The apprehended persons and seized BD currency were handed over to Police Station Pynursla for further legal action.
