BSF rescued 57 cattle from being smuggled to Bangladesh
In its commitment towards making the International Border crime free, BSF Meghalaya on 23rd April 2022, rescued 57 cattle near to border village Sonapur under PS Lumshnong, Distt, East Jaintia Hills, which were meant to be smuggled to Bangladesh through International Border.
The cattle were laden with four truck and coming from Khliehriat towards Umkiang. The alert BSF troops of 97 BN BSF signaled the truck driver to stop near to MCP (Mobile Check Post) Sonapur, on seeing BSF party all drivers fled away left behind truck laden with total 57 cattle heads, which were seized by BSF. The seized cattle were handed over to concerned police outpost Lumshnong for further disposal.
The Border Security Force has identified vulnerable routes/patches and laid Mobile Check Post on it which are used frequently by cattle smugglers. BSF is maintaining high degree of alertness on the International Border to maintain National security as well as to prevent all kind of trans-border crimes and illegal activities.
