BSF seized cosmetics worth Rs 31 lakh on Indo-Bangla border

The Border Security Force has yet again foiled smugglers’ illicit plan by seizing a huge number of cosmetic items meant to be smuggled to Bangladesh.

Acting on reliable tip off, BSF troops seized cosmetics worth more than Rs 31 lakh while being carried towards the international border in South Garo Hills for smuggling purposes to Bangladesh.

On being intercepted by BSF, miscreants ran away from the spot, taking the advantage of darkness. Later, the seized items were handed over to customs office Rongra, South Garo Hills, Meghalaya for further disposal.

A BSF spokesperson said that BSF troops are watchful and active against any illegal activity through the International Border as the smugglers and other Anti-National elements are trying to take advantage of the COVID situation in implementing their nefarious designs.
