BSF thwarts smuggling attempts, rescues 27 cattle in Meghalaya
In its continuous efforts to curb cross-border smuggling, the vigilant troops of BSF Meghalaya successfully thwarted smuggling attempts by seizing contraband worth over Rs 16 lakh along the international border of Meghalaya.
Acting on specific information, the troops of the 4th Battalion BSF conducted special operations near the International Border on October 23. During this operation, the BSF rescued 27 cattle concealed in a jungle area near the border, intended for smuggling into Bangladesh. The seized cattle have been handed over to PPP Muktapur for further necessary action.
Additionally, alert troops of the 193rd Battalion BSF intercepted a pick-up vehicle (No. ML-05-AC) loaded with cosmetic items without valid documents near the International Border in the East Khasi Hills district on October 22. Alongside this, a sizable quantity of food items and liquor was seized in other operations conducted along the International Border.
