Budget session to commence on Friday
The budget session of the tenth Meghalaya Legislative Assembly will commence from Friday.
When asked about the government’s preparation for the budget session, Chief Minister Conrad K Sangma said the government’s responsibility is to present the budget for 2021-2022 and ensure that it encompasses all the areas and focuses on different development aspects.
“…the focus will be more on development and budget agenda,” he said.
Asked, the chief minister said the budget has been affected in the past because of COVID-19 pandemic and those effects have already been incorporated in the revised estimate by the government of India, so we accordingly have to adjust and make changes in our state plan.
“Accordingly the next budget, the government of India has already announced the recommendations made by the 15th Finance Commission and based on the recommendations and projections we have for the internal and state’s own revenue that is going to come, we have proposed our budget this time,” he said while informing that he would present the budget on March 10.
The budget session will end on March 19.
