Burning of grass in Sohra Sub Division prohibited

Sub-Divisional Magistrate, Sohra Civil Sub-Division Saloni Verma, IAS has promulgated Section 144 CrPC prohibiting burning of grasses, woods, coal etc in forest & grassland areas, park gardens, places of plantation, public and private property premises, barren lands within Sohra Civil Sub-Division.

The prohibitory order was issued in order to safeguard lives of people and property and prevent any untoward incidents due to fire.

The SDM observed in the past week these fire outbreaks have occurred in and around several places that are of administrative importance, office premises of various functionaries of the Sub-Division, Educational Institutions and Restaurants among others.

The order read that incidents of fire have been reported during the months of November to April in the past years leading to the destruction of vegetation and posing a serious threat to the lives of people and properties within the local jurisdiction of Sohra Civil Sub-Division.
