Bursting crackers allowed with restrictions in Diwali
The District Magistrate, West Jaintia Hills in an order issued under Section 144 CrPC has allowed bursting of crackers in the District from 8.00 Pm to 10.00 Pm on Diwali the 24th October, 2022.
The order prohibited sale, purchase and procurement of foreign-made firecrackers, use of joined firecrackers (Series crackers of laris) which cause huge air, noise and solid waste problems, use of firecrackers generating noise level exceeding 125 dB (A!) or 145 dB (C) pk at 4 meters distance from the point of bursting.
The order also prohibits bursting of firecrackers within 100 metres of Hospitals, Nursing Homes, Primary and District health Care Centres, Educational Institutions, Courts, Religious Places or any other area which may have been declared as Silent Zones by the concerned Authorities.
The sale of Firecrackers shall only be through licensed traders and the licensed traders should sell only those firecrackers which have been permitted by the office of the Deputy Commissioner, West Jaintia Hills and are in compliance with Central Pollution Board guidelines.
This order shall come into force with immediate effect and shall remain in force till celebration of Christmas and New Year.
