Buy second hand electronic items only after proper verification
The Superintendent of Police, West Jaintia Hills on Thursday appealed to the general public to refrain from purchasing second hand electronic devices without proper verification and documentation.
In a press communique, police emphasized that the people should go for second hand purchase only if they have specific knowledge about the same. They informed that since some items are obtained illegally or by committing criminal act which is punishable as per law.
Police said that it has been observed by the Department that purchasing of Second Hand Electronic Devices (especially Mobile Phones) from an unauthorized person is still persisting till date despite information to the general public has been conveyed from this office vide Press Release NO. DCRB/Press Release/2019/444 dated Jowai the 4th Nov, 2019.
The Superintendent of Police has requested that if any person having knowledge of any person(s) engaging in selling stolen articles/products kindly intimate to the nearest police station and the name of the informant will be kept confidential.
