CAB project of RSS & BJP on divide India on religious line: Jairam Ramesh
SHILLONG: The Citizenship Amendment Bill (CAB) is a project of the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) and the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) to divide India on religious line, according to Indian National Congress (INC) senior leader and Member of Parliament from Karnataka Jairam Ramesh.
Informing that party will firmly, strongly and clearly oppose Citizenship Amendment Bill as the Bill is an attempt to divide Indian society base on religion, Ramesh said that the CAB clearly violates Articles 14 and 21 of the very constitution in which India was build.”
Regarding the issue of NRC in Assam, Senior Congress leader said that the Congress does not oppose the principles of NRC but it firmly oppose to the methodology of implementing the NRC in the State.
He further said that the methodology used by the present BJP Government in the State has cause lots of harassment to the poor and downtrodden genuine citizen of India. He also lamented that it is disturbing news to learn that Jaintia women who got married in Assam were not included in the NRC list.
Ramesh informed that the Congress will work for a solution to identify genuine illegal immigrants but will not stand by and watch the harassment caused by the present methodology in implementing the NRC in the state.
He also said that Amit Shah and Prime Minister Narendra Modi want to polarize the issue of NRC in order to divert the main issues like employment, farmer’s distress, total economic back down etc.
Notably, Union Home Minister Rajnath Singh announced that the Government will introduce the CAB in the winter session likely to starts from November 18th, next.
