Cabinet approves appointment of 45 junior engineers
The state cabinet has approved the appointment of 45 junior engineers in the PHE department for the early completion of the Jal Jeevan Mission in the state.
Addressing media persons after the meeting on Tuesday, Chief Minister Conrad K Sangma said the cabinet has approved the appointment of 45 junior engineers in grade-I under 3F for PHE department.
“This was needed as there is an urgency to have additional manpower against the shortage for the implementation of the Jal Jeevan Mission as you are aware the target for Meghalaya is (to complete within) 3 years,” he said.
According to Sangma, the procedure through the Meghalaya Public Service Commission (MPSC) could take more than a year to complete the appointment. .
“Therefore in the emergency case, we have allowed 45 junior engineers to be appointed by the PHE department,” he stated.
