Cabinet retreat should not be at the cost of public exchequer: Pala
Congress chief Vincent H Pala on Saturday asserted the need for the state government to ensure its idea of organizing a Cabinet Retreat should not be at the cost of the public exchequer.
Commenting on the two-day cabinet retreat at Sohra, Pala said that he is not at all against the idea of having the cabinet in multiple locations.
“Even the Congress in Maharashtra also, we used to have it (cabinet) at different locations provided you have the fund. I think the state government must be able to sustain and as a big state they can have. But I am not against having a cabinet everywhere provided there is no extra expenditure,” he told reporters.
“I think this is an opportunity for them (government) to make more money or an opportunity for them to make you see because one cabinet I see they spent crores of money so I have to see the financial condition otherwise the idea is not bad but at the same time we should look at our pockets also whether we are competent and whether we can sustain this idea. Sometimes ideas are very good but whether it is pragmatic and whether we can use it without at the cost of the public,” he added.
