Carrying of Rs 50000/- cash prohibited in East Khasi Hills

Due to the announcement of Assembly Election on 10 May this year for Sohiong Assembly Constituency, which was adjourned following demise of UDP Candidate HDR Lyngdoh, District Magistrate and District Election Officer, East Khasi Hills District Sibhi Chakravarthy Sadhu, IAS prohibited any person or group of persons from carrying money above Rs 50,000/- (Rupees Fifty Thousand) only, in the East Khasi Hills District.

The prohibitory order has issued under Section 144 CrPC with a view to check bribery of voters during the conduct of Election and ensure the voters exercise the franchise freely and fairly without fear or inducement.
