Carrying Rs 50,000 cash or above prohibited due to MDC election

The District Magistrate, East Khasi Hills District in the exercise of powers under Section 163 BNSS prohibited any person or group of persons from carrying money above 50,000/- Rupees (Fifty Thousand) only, in the East Khasi Hills District.

The order shall come into force with immediate effect and remain till 24th February, this year.

The order was issued in view of the fact that the Model Code of Conduct (MCC) has become operative in the District after the declaration of Election schedule for MDC Election.

According to the order, the Government directs to check the bribery of voters during the conduct of any election and ensure the voters exercise the franchise freely and fairly without fear or inducement.
