CBSE Board Exams for Class 10 cancelled and Class 12 postponed
The Government and Ministry of Education have decided to cancel the CBSE Board Exam for Class 10 and postpone the CBSE Board Exam for Class 12 due to the evolving situation of the Covid-19 crisis, on Wednesday.
The examinations were planned earlier for May-June, but because of the increasingly positive cases of Covid-19 in the country, the Central Government and Ministry of Education has made changes to the decisions concerning the CBSE Board Exams and the well being of the students.
For class 12 the Board Exams are postponed exams will be held hereafter. The situation will be reviewed on June 1st. A notice of at least 15 days will be given before the start of the examinations.
For class 10 the Board Exams are cancelled. The results of the Class X Board shall be prepared on the basis of the Board’s objective criterion. Any candidate who is not satisfied with the marks on this basis shall be given the chance to take the examination under certain conditions.
In view of the evolving situation in Corona, the Honorable Prime Minister chaired a high level meeting to discuss exams on a wide range of levels. The meeting was attended by Union Minister of Education Shri Ramesh Pokhriyal Nishank, Principal Secretary of the Premier, Cabinet Secretary, Secretary of Schools and Higher Education and other high-ranking officials.
In the meeting, the Prime Minister reiterated that the well being of the students has to be the top priority for the Government. He also stated that the Centre would keep in mind the best interests of the students and ensure that their health is taken care of at the same time their academic interests are not harmed.
Schools in 11 states have already been completely shut down with the resurgence of corona virus positive cases in the country. Unlike State Boards, CBSE has an all-India character, and therefore, it is essential to hold exams simultaneously throughout the country.
