Centre still examining ILP demand: CM
Chief Minister Conrad K Sangma on Tuesday said the Union Home Minister Amit Shah had assured to examine the demand for implementation of the Inner Line Permit (ILP) system in Meghalaya.
Speaking to media persons, Sangma informed that the Union Home Minister had given a very patient hearing not just to the delegation of the state Cabinet but to others who met him during his visit to the state last week.
“In the meeting, he (Shah) had mentioned that he will be examining the matter. The Govt of India is examining the matter is what he had told the cabinet during the discussion we had with him,” he said.
The Chief Minister said apart from ILP, issues related to the boundary talks and inclusion of Khasi and Garo Languages in the Eighth Schedule to the Constitution of India were also taken up with the Union home minister.
