Chief Minister Conrad K Sangma to attend Behdienkhlam Festival in Jowai
Chief Minister Conrad K Sangma will come and witness the Behdienkhlam festival, a four-day celebration organized by Seinraij Jowai and held annually by the Pnar community who follow the traditional religion (Niamtre), from June 30 to July 3.
This announcement was made by the President of Seinraij Jowai, Hercules Toi and the Dolloi of Elaka Jowai, Puramon Kynjing, in the presence of Vice President EMH Passah and Assistant General Secretary Wyr-ai-ki Kharbuki, during a press briefing at the Seinraij Jowai office on June 27.
President Seinraij Jowai, Hercules Toi said on July 3, the last day of the Behdienkhlam festival, Chief Minister Conrad K Sangma, along with other state ministers and dignitaries, will witness the celebrations. Hercules Toi extended an invitation to all the public to join the Behdienkhlam festival to seek blessings, health, prosperity, and progress in all aspects of life.
Puramon Kynjing emphasized that Behdienkhlam in Raij Jowai is a joyous religious celebration held to honour the blessings received from nature and the village deities.
Wyraiki Kharbuki informed that parking arrangements for VIPs on the last day have been made at Chilliang Raij Community Hall, Tpep Pale ground, Seinraij Higher Secondary School, as well as at Iawmusiang and Jrisalein playground.
Vice President EMH Passah urged all residents of Jowai to maintain cleanliness so that visitors can appreciate the clean environment of Jowai town during the Behdienkhlam festival.
