Chief Minister directs immediate action on public grievances in Bhoirymbong Block
Chief Minister Conrad K Sangma engaged with the residents of Bhoirymbong Block in Ri Bhoi District on July 18 as part of the flagship CM-CONNECT initiative. He addressed their queries and directed officials to take immediate action to resolve the issues.
The CM emphasized that CM Connect aims to bring the administration closer to the people by listening to their problems firsthand. He encouraged the public to share their issues, acknowledging that while not all problems could be resolved immediately, addressing even half would be satisfying for both him and the residents. He expressed hope that the program would be memorable.
The CM CONNECT helpline-1971 was launched on February 15, 2024, allowing people to express their grievances directly. Umroi MLA Damanbait Lamare highlighted the initiative as an opportunity for public interaction with the Chief Minister and urged collective efforts for state development.
Several residents raised concerns during the interaction:
Rangshanbor Kharbihkhiew reported a lack of water supply for two days. The CM contacted a PHE official and ensured resolution within 24 hours.
Baiahun Lyngdoh inquired about delays in releasing free textbooks for Lower Primary schools. The CM directed education officials to purchase books in advance.
Farmer Jovita Sten asked about ginger seeds. The Horticulture Department official stated that a suitable variety would be identified and distributed next year.
Daplin Rymbai raised concerns about not receiving potato seeds. The CM instructed Horticulture Department officials to ensure she receives the necessary seeds.
Local contractors discussed pending bill releases, and the Water Resource Department clarified that funds had been released and processing was underway.
Queries about Anganwadis and food items under the Integrated Child Development Scheme (ICDS) were addressed by the Food and Civil Supplies Department.
The CM also distributed cheques for community funds to various organizations under the National Rural Livelihood Mission (NRLM) and issued work orders under MGNREGA. He handed over symbolic keys for PRIME Agriculture Response Vehicles (ARVs) under the CM ELEVATE Program. Additionally, the CM inspected a Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana (PMAY) house, Amrit Sarovar at Mawtneng, and inaugurated the First Referral Unit at Bhoirymbong CHC.
The Block Level Community Interaction Program under CM-Connect took place at Lumdaitkhla Bhoirymbong Football Ground, attended by officials including MLA Umroi Damanbiat Lamare, Principal Secretary Community & Rural Development Department Sampath Kumar, Deputy Commissioner Ri Bhoi District Abhilash Baranwal, and state and block-level representatives from various departments.
