Chief Minister inaugurates Shillong Heritage Walk
SHILLONG: Chief Minister, Conrad K Sangma today inaugurated the Shillong Heritage Walk. The walk started from Wards Lake to Raj Bhawan and ended at Pinewood Hotel
Chief Minister Conrad K Sangma while thangking the Forest department and the Tourism department for the imitative said that Shillong has many historic locations and the idea of the Shillong Heritage Walk is to make it more structured and organized so that the tourists enjoy the heritage of Shillong.
The Shillong Heritage Walk which will be open to public and tourists from next week will take one through a three hour guided walk of the British history of the city to acquaint one through with the city’s rich colonial heritage and history through its buildings, architecture and parks.
The heritage sites include Earle Sanatorium, Khyndailad, Meghalaya Legislative Assembly, Brahmo Samaj, the Presbyterian Church, the Legislative Council Building, Shillong Club, Secretariat Hills, the Centenary Monument, the PWD Quartets, All Saints Church, Raj Bhawan, Pine Wood Hotel, Wards Lake.
