Chief Minister visits flood hit Garo Hills, inspects collapsed bridges and damaged schools
Chief Minister Conrad K Sangma, continuing his second day of visits to the flood-affected areas in Garo Hills on October 9, visited Chokpot Civil Sub-Division in South Garo Hills, covering the following areas and places.
The Chief Minister visited Reni Badimagre, where a suspension bridge over Dareng River connecting Reni Badimagre to Bibragre was inspected. The bridge has collapsed due to the flood. However, no population is affected by floods in Reni Badimagre Village.
Mt Carmel School near Chokpot Market affected by floods where although the building was not damaged materials like books, furnitures etc are damaged.
Visited damaged houses at Bibragre, Chokpot. Total 20 households affected by floods and 9 houses damaged. G.R has been distributed to all the 20 affected families
Rongrakgre village where the CM interacted with the flood affected families. Total 38 HH affected and 24 houses reported to be damaged. G.R supplied to all the affected families.
Interacted with people of two flood affected village namely Gonganggre and Danggilgre. Both these villages have 27 affected HH while 10 houses damaged. G.R given to all.
Visited damaged houses at Daramgre village. Total 7 HH affected and 3 houses damaged. Also visited Daramgre playground affected by siltation due to floods. CM promised to clear the silt with the help of PWD department.
Visited affected population of Rongrikkimgre Village and inspected the washed away Suspension bridge over Dareng River connecting Rongrikkimgre Village to Dikronggre village. The Suspension bridge was built by BADO many years ago.
