Child climate activist shows how to recycle plastic waste
One of the world’s youngest climate activists, Licypriya Kangujam, tweeted a method for converting single-use plastic waste into road tiles.
In her tweet, “Recycle is the last option. Avoid single use plastics.” She also urges no to throw garbage or plastics in any water bodies which will make a hug difference.
Who is Licypriya Kangujam?
Born in Manipuri, India, this young lady is a child environmental activist. Since 2018, Licypriya has been advocating for climate action in India, including the passage of new laws to reduce India’s high pollution levels and the implementation of climate-change education in schools.
Where she started?
She started ‘The Child Movement’ after attending a UN disaster conference in Mongolia in 2018, to urge world leaders to take immediate climate action in order to save our planet and future generations It has since evolved into a people’s movement for climate justice in India and other countries. She has also been to many countries and met world leaders in associations like UN, UNESCO and COP25.
What she wants for India?
To promote clean energy such as solar in cities and wind turbines in rural areas for power instead of relying on coal. To acquire green vehicle transitions from fossil fuel to electric vehicles. To put a stop to deforestation for mining and development purposes.
