Citizen shots open letter to CM
SHILLONG: Pillarson D Sangma, a resident of East Garo Hills District on Thursday asked the chief minister, Conrad K Sangma on whether he is planning to encourage further illegal coal mining in the state.
Shooting a reminder on his open letter to the chief minister, Pillarson said, “Till today, I am yet to get satisfactory clarification from you (on my open letter seeking clarification on lifting of coal mining ban).”
Putting forward additional questions on the issue, he said, “Are you planning to encourage further illegal coal mining in the state to fill up the gap between actual quantity of already extracted coal (stock) less than 10 lakh MT in the state and 32 lakh MT your government had filed in the Supreme Court?”
He also asked whether the chief minister is trying manipulate the coal auction process by conducting auction without collecting all extracted coal from different places in the state in a designated place as per order of the Supreme Court.
According to him, Coal India Ltd should be allowed to take its own course of action to conduct already extracted coal in the state.
Pillarson also wanted to know the plan of the CM on the issue of getting environment clearance from the state forest department or Ministry of Forest, Environment and Climage Change for obtaining of coal mining persmission from central government within 10 km bird eye from boundary of both Balpakram national park.
“Request again to clarify both previous and present queries. If you fail I will put the same or more questions again and again till I get satisfactory answer,” he stated in the letter to the CM.
