CM announces setting up of a climate museum cum centre at Upper Shillong
Chief Minister Conrad K Sangma on Thursday informed that a climate museum-cum-centre will be set up at Upper Shillong.
Speaking to reporters, Sangma said the centre will be set up on forest department land next to the Elephant Falls.
“It is going to be a climate museum cum centre where we plan to make this into a location where students can come and get hands-on experience and look at the different aspects of climate change that is taking place in the region, in the state, in the country and the world as a whole. It is a place where we can educate children and at the same time have discussions. We will have conference rooms, different places for stay so that large conferences can happen,” he said.
“We are proposing that annually there should be a conference at the regional level of the North East where we discuss every year about important aspects of climate and how the different states can work together,” he said
