CM Conrad inaugurates the Two Days’ National Workshop at Shillong College
The Two Days’ National Workshop on ‘Translating Vision into Action NEP 2022: An Implementation Perspective’, organized by the Internal Quality Assurance Cell, Shillong College was inaugurated on Wednesday by Chief Minister, Conrad K Sangma at the Shillong College Auditorium in the presence of Minister, Education, Lakhmen Rymbui and Additional Chief Secretary, D P Wahlang.
Delivering his inaugural address Chief Minister, Conrad K Sangma said that with the New Education Policy the two days’ workshop is a move in the right direction. And now suddenly you’re asked to steer the ship and move in a new, better direction. He added that the implementation of the new Education Policy requires time, effort and a lot of investment in different aspects. “A just transition is a concept that is precisely meant for these kinds of processes where you can’t expect things to happen in a day but there are a few things that we all need to prioritize as a government and as a society to make better, productive citizens and society and that should drive us to move forward in spite of the changes,” he said.
He added that the Education Policy stresses on Research, cognitive and critical thinking, vocational training, innovation, Entrepreneurship Sports and Extra Curricular Activities which is a paradigm shift of how education has been in the past and said that all these aspects in the new Education Policy are important. He said that the two days’ workshop will help in realizing the visons and aims of new NEP and prepare a road map not only for Shillong College but other colleges also in realizing the goals and principles of the NEP.
In the programme, Chief Minister released the Proceedings Volume of Webinar entitled “ Ka Jaidbynriew Hynniewtrep ha ka Jingiaid Lynti ba 50 snem” and felicitated the contributors of the proceedings which included those who fought for Hill state.
The Chief Minister also inaugurated the new building block, the college auditorium and the lift that are all partially funded by RUSA.
