CM lays base for upgradation of Pasyih-Garampani road
Chief Minister Conrad K Sangma today said the foundation stone for upgradation/improvement of Pasyih- Garampani Road (L=26.982 Km)” – PKG – 06.
Also present on the occasion were Deputy Chief Minister Prestone Tynsong and Transport Minister Sniawbhalang Dhar, Nujorki Sungoh local MLA, Comingone Ymbon and others.
The Passyih – Garampani road is a State Highway starting from 8th Mile of Jowai – Ratacherra Road (NH 6) and ends at Saphai near the boundary of Meghalaya – Assam Border. The total length is 46.982 Km.
The portion of this road from 21st Km to 47th Km (Total length of 26.982 Km) has been sanctioned under Meghalaya Integrated Transport Project (MITP) funded by World bank. The road provided connectivity of Meghalaya with Assam. At present the carriageway of the road varies from single lane to intermediate lane throughout the length. The carriage way width varies from 5.0 to 6.0m and right of way varies from 12.00 to 16.00 m. The road passes through several villages including Pyntei, Biar, Chatwakhu, Nongkroh, Lakadong, Saphai habitation areas.
The proposed formation width is 8.500 m for rural areas and 9.700m for both side built-up area. This road section is located at an altitude of 1000 MSL. The road section does not transverse any forest area and no additional land acquisition is proposed for the project development. Hence, no forest clearance is required for improvement proposal of this road section.
The work was allotted to Rocky Dhar JV Dhar Construction Company for an amount of Rs 62,49,18,004.00 (Rupees Sixty-two Crore Forty-nine Lakhs Eighteen Thousand Four) only on 5th November 2020 with the time of completion of 42 months.
