CM says cabinet reshuffle to depend on decision of coalition partners
Chief Minister Conrad K Sangma on Thursday said a cabinet reshuffle will depend on the political decision of the respective coalition partners of the Meghalaya Democratic Alliance (MDA).
He was reacting to a query if there will be a reshuffling of the cabinet as the National People’s Party (NPP)-led MDA would soon be completing two and a half years in government.
Sangma however told reporters that his stand as the chief minister and leader of the MDA is very clear on this regard.
He said there is a quota for each of the political parties supporting the MDA and based on that quota the number has been given to them.
“Therefore, it will be the decision of that particular political party as to who would be the ministers (from amongst the MLAs) in that particular quota and that is something I as the CM will not intervene but it will be the political decision of the respective political parties,” Sangma said.
Asked, the chief minister said that the issue was never discussed during the MDA meeting held on Wednesday.
