CM seek Amit Shah’s support for Meghalaya to host the National Games in 2027
Chief Minister Conrad K Sangma has sought the support of union home minister Amit Shah for Meghalaya to host the National Games in 2027.
Addressing media persons on Wednesday, Sangma said, “We have pitched from our side and that we would like to host the national games in 2027 and for that purpose I thought I would meet for the purpose of discussion with the home minister also. He gave a positive response. He was very keen that yes North East deserves to host the National Games after a very long stretch, the last being I think in 2007 or 2008 in Assam and of course we urge for his support to make this happen and to put a recommendation or support from his side to the IOA or whenever the situation arises and he has assured us his full support in whatever way possible to make the National Games here in the state of Meghalaya.”
The CM informed that he had recently held a meeting with the chairperson of the Indian Olympic Association (IOA). “In that meeting we had a discussion about the national games being hosted by Meghalaya in 2027. It is happening in Uttarakhand right now and the next is going to happen in 2027,” he said.
