CM seek Union External Affairs Minister’s intervention for safe return of stranded students
Meghalaya Chief Minister Conrad K Sangma has sought the intervention of the Union External Affairs Minister for the safe return of all Indian citizens as several students from the state remain stranded in the Russian invasion-hit Ukraine.
“Received news about students from Meghalaya stranded in #Ukraine. Humbly request Hon’ble Union External Affairs Minister, @DrSJaishankarJi to ensure the safe return of all Indian citizens. We are praying for everyone’s safety. May peace prevail,”Sangma tweeted on Thursday.
Reportedly there are 15 students from Meghalaya who are studying in various streams in Ukraine, though exact number is yet to be ascertained. The reports also suggest that hundreds of students from the Northeast are also studying there.
