CoHSO’s rally voiced out for implementation of ILP & scrapping of CAB
SHILLONG: “Scrap the Citizenship Amendment Bill (CAB) and implement the Inner Line Permit in Meghalaya,” are the two demands of the thousands of people to the BJP led Govt in Delhi and the NPP led Govt in Shillong.
They issued the demands in the Dorbar Bah Ki Khun Hynniewtrep organized by the Confederation of Hynniewtrep Social Organization at Students Fields, Jaiaw here this afternoon.
Addressing the rally, Chief Executive Member of KHADC chief Hispreachering Son Shylla issued one-week time to the NPP-led Meghalaya Democratic Alliance government to implement the Inner Line Permit in Meghalaya as it will prevent outsiders from settling in the state by advising the Governor to assent to the ILP Bill passed by the KHADC who also announced his resignation from the NPP.
“I will give Rs 5 lakh to the CoHSO for holding a much massive rally at Polo Ground if the government fails to implement ILP as to pressurize the Govt,” the fire brand MDC from Nongkrem said.
He also said that they are fighting a lost battle as it is loud and clear that the BJP is will enact the CAB and unlike other states in the North East region, we are the only state without any protection (ILP).
The KHADC chief said that Meghalaya Residents Safety and Security Act (MRSSA) passed by the Congress-led government in 2016 is more dangerous than the CAB as it will facilitate entry of visitors and ensure no Indians are subjected to any inconveniences.
Shylla said that he has lost faith in all political parties in the state and opined that it is high time that the NGOs should field their own candidate for the upcoming Lok Sabha polls.
UDP working president Paul Lyngdoh said that if there is need to knock the door of the UN for its intervention against the Centre’s move for enacting CAB then they will not hesitate to do so. He also said that the Khasi states are now part of India due to the Instrument of Accession (IOA) and if the Centre fails to honour the provisions of the IOA they will also be compelled to trample the Constitution.”
Leaders of different political parties including BJP Meghalaya state, United Democratic Party (UDP), Hill State People’s Democratic Party (HSPDP), People’s Democratic Front (PDF) and others also attended the rally.
