Colleges in Meghalaya fully exempted from CUET: Pradhan
Union Minister for Education, Skill Development and Entrepreneurship Dharmendra Pradhan on Saturday categorically maintained that colleges affiliated to North Eastern Hill University (NEHU) will not be part of the Common University Entrance Test (CUET) process.
After reviewing the education scenario in the state, Pradhan told reporters that the state run colleges will continue to be affiliated to NEHU till Meghalaya has its own state university.
“My friend, the chief minister, told me they are arranging something for a state university. (Therefore), as long as the Government of Meghalaya desires, they can continue to be affiliated to NEHU but they will not be part of the CUET process in future also,” he assured.
His clarification came in the wake of the confusion that if the CUET exemption for Meghalaya was meant only for the current academic session.
On May 12, the Centre had granted exemption to all the affiliated colleges of the North Eastern Hill University (NEHU) from the CUET.
