CoMSO ask govt to include ILP provisions in MRSSA, 2016
SHILLONG: The Confederation of Meghalaya Social Organizations (CoMSO) today met the deputy chief minister Prestone Tynsong to discuss on the proposed amendment of the Meghalaya Residents Safety and Security Act, 2016 in line with the demand for implementation of the Inner Line Permit system
CoMSO chairman Robertjune Kharjahrin after the meeting said Tynsong has informed the delegation that the proposed amendment is already in the final stage and would soon be placed before the state Cabinet for its consideration.
He however said the CoMSO is firmed in its stand that the state government should incorporate the suggestions submitted earlier which related to inclusion of sections 3, 4 n 7 of the Bengal Eastern Frontier Regulation, 1873 that clearly stated the need for outsiders to obtain permit while entering the state failing which action will be taken against them.
He said the CoMSO against the Act in its present form and will continue to do so if the government fails to include the provisions of the ILP in it.
The delegation has also expressed concern over the delay of the government in resolving the long pending issue for relocation of the Sweeper’s Colony from Them Iew Mawlong.
Kharjahrin said the deputy chief minister has informed that another 30 days’ time was given to the residents of the area to submit their documents following the recent direction of the High Court.
We however warned the state government that delay in resolving the issue may lead to law and order problem in the future due to interference by outside forces.
