CoMSO to stage protest march to Guv’s House
SHILLONG: The Confederation of Meghalaya Social Organization (CoMSO) has decided to march to the Governor’s House on Friday to express strong opposition against the passing of the Citizenship (Amendment) Bill, 2019 and to demand implementation of the Inner Line Permit.
“As a mark of protest against the passing of the CAB, we have decided to march to the Raj Bhavan to demand immediate implementation of the ILP,” CoMSO chairman Robertjune Kharjahrin said in a statement issued after an emergent meeting held here on Wednesday.
Stating that the CoMSO will never accept the CAB, Kharjahrin also slammed the step-motherly treatment of the Centre towards Meghalaya by implementing the ILP only in Manipur.
The CoMSO has also condemned the Governor, Tathagata Roy for delaying to approve the Meghalaya Residents Safety and Security Amendment Ordinance, 2019 which seeks to regulate the entry of outsiders into the state. “We demand that he should immediately grant his assent to the ordinance,” Kharjahrin said.
