Concerned citizen asks MDA govt to come out clean on HNLC’s allegation
A concerned citizen has demanded the MDA government to come out clean on the recent allegations made by the Hynniewtrep National Liberation Council (HNLC) relating to illegal collection of money from coal trucks.
“As alleged by the HNLC, if the government wants to come clean on this issue it needs to clarify the allegations with proofs so that people from all walks of life can see the truth,” Joannes JTL Lamare, a resident of Shillong, said in a statement issued on Tuesday.
Lamare said he was extremely shocked to see media reports on the HNLC alleging the MDA government for illegal collecting of money from the coal transporting trucks plying through the state.
“The allegations against the MDA government are extreme and serious and the outfit has even mentioned that those benefiting from the money collection are the Chief Minister of Meghalaya, the Deputy Chief Minister and the home minister,” he said.
Stating that such allegations are serious and need to be investigated by the highest investigating agencies of the land, Lamare said “…and those named by the HNLC should be questioned, interrogated and thoroughly investigated. No one whether in the government or outside it should be spared and the Rule of Law should be allowed to do its job.”
“I am of the opinion that if these allegations turned out to be true, then the harshest punishment should be awarded not just by the Local agencies but there should be a Great Demand that the Highest Agency be involved in awarding the punishment.
We have seen in the past that the MDA government cannot even answer straight questions whenever a direct question has been asked, be it the Covid 19 management, Covid 19 expenditures, coal transportation, mining issues, besides other grave issues,” he added.
The resident also slammed the MDA government for only being good at making excuses and blaming others and dogging on issues that need to be addressed.
“This government is good only at making tall claims and it is only a government of all talks, no actions and only opinions,” he said while expressing that as a concerned citizen of the state, he wants to be governed by a clean and corrupt free government so that the future of the state can be raised.
“Many of us have lost our faith in the system and the time has come for each and everyone of us to fight hard to channel the filth from the highest point of the pyramid of governance,” he stated.
