Conference on SC-ST Entrepreneurship and Women Empowerment held in Shillong

The MSME Export Promotion Council today organized a Conference on SC-ST Entrepreneurship and Women Empowerment at State Convention Centre, Shillong. Meghalaya Governor, Shri Tathagata Roy and Health & Family Welfare Minister, Shri A. L. Hek graced the inaugural programme as Chief Guest and Guest of Honour respectively.

Addressing the programme as Chief Guest, Meghalaya Governor, Shri Tathagata Roy said that

“the North Eastern region has a special status for women and Meghalaya being a matrilineal society has an advantage for women entrepreneurs to explore the opportunities available in the State. This seminar is important in a sense that we are trying to make our entrepreneurs be job givers rather than job seekers, he said. Stating that Meghalaya has abundance of resources that can be made into a product, the Governor said that agro-based products if systematically cultivated and packed and if MSME can act as a facilitator, it can create a whole new platform for the entrepreneurs.”

Health & Family Welfare Minister, Shri A. L. Hek said that hard work and patience is the key to be a successful entrepreneur. He also said that entrepreneurs should look at the market scenario and conceptualize their products accordingly to be successful entrepreneurs.
