Cong slams govt over failure to conduct fresh MTET exams
The opposition Congress has slammed the NPP-led Meghalaya Democratic Alliance government for its failure to conduct a fresh Meghalaya Teacher Eligibility Test (MTET) examination despite the incident of question paper leakage.
It may be mentioned here that leakage was revealed through an FIR filed with the Tura police station in 2019, after photos of all question papers meant for the examination flooded social media.
Speaking to reporters on Saturday, Congress spokesperson, Zenith Sangma recalled that the question papers for MTET were leaked from a centre under the Dadenggre subdivision.
“They (government) have withheld the results of MTET for Dadenggre sub-division but in other parts of the state, they have declared the results and gone ahead in appointing the teachers,” Sangma said.
Expressing disappointment at the manner in which the MTET exam was held, he said whatever the state government had done with this interview is completely wrong.
“The entire process should have been revisited and fresh examination should have been conducted,” Sangma asserted.
He said with the present day technology, the leaked question papers can be passed on to other parts of the state.
Bernard Ryngkhlem says
If the question is leaked in tura then the whole state of Meghalaya will receive the questions through social media like WhatsApp, Facebook etc. The MTET conducted by govt. Of Meghalaya is meaningless. Fresh examination shall be conducted.
