Congress’ a laughing stock for deciding to pull out of NPP-led EC in KHADC: UDP
United Democratic Party (UDP) leader and opposition leader in the KHADC Titosstarwell Chyne on Monday termed the Congress’ decision to pull out of the NPP-led executive committee just two months ahead of the upcoming ADC polls, as a “laughing stock”.
Speaking to media persons, Chyne said the Congress was hand in glove with the NPP to topple the three and a half years old UDP-led EC in the KHADC.
“It is a laughing stock before the people. Why they pressure now to withdraw from the EC when from the beginning, they endorsed them to join the EC to topple me,” he said.
“It is a laughing stock. They (Congress) want to fool the people. They think people are fools. It (pulling out of the EC) is only an eyewash to mislead the people,” Chyne stated while adding that the people will give them a befitting reply in the upcoming elections.
The two Congress MDCs are likely to pull out of the National People’s Party (NPP)-led executive committee (EC) in the Khasi Hills Autonomous District Council (KHADC) ahead of the upcoming elections, due to continued pressure from the party workers as well as from the AICC.
Sources had informed that a decision will soon be taken on the matter especially keeing in mind that Congress working president and deputy chief executive member Pynshngainlang N Syiem will be seeking reelection from the party.
“Therefore, the continued pressure may leave PN Syiem without no option but to pull out of the NPP-led EC in the KHADC,” a source said.
