Congress extends support to VPP’s demand for reinstatement of Lokayukta officials
The opposition Congress on Friday extended support to the protest called by the opposition Voice of the People Party (VPP) to demand immediate reinstatement of terminated officials of the Lokayukta.
Speaking to reporters, Ronnie V Lyngdoh said the Lokayukta was set up during the Congress government to ensure transparency and that people can air their grievances before the anti-graft body.
He said, “We support the protest (of VPP). If there are any issues concerning the interest of the state, we will always be with any party or any group that fights for justice. We are talking about justice.”
Asked, Lyngdoh said “The exact reason why they were removed, we will have to find out because even members of the Lokayukta are human beings after all. We will find out. If there is no reason for their removal, we will also insist that they are reinstated but we have to find out.”
