Congress hit back at AITC over ‘betrayal’ allegation
Congress leader and Mawlai legislator PTSawkmie on Sunday said the All India Trinamool Congress (AITC) has no moral rights to criticize the Congress and its MLAs.
He was reacting to the statement made by AITC leader and former chief minister Mukul Sangma that the Congress’ decision to suppport the BJP backed NPP-led Meghalaya Democratic Alliance (MDA) government clearly reflects that they are desperate to be in power.
Sawkmie also said that the allegation of the AITC leader that the Congress MLAs have betrayed the people of the state by supporting the MDA government is not at all acceptable.
“This is because the five Congress MLAs have not betrayed the people and the party but infact it was the 12 MLAs who left the party and betrayed us. (Therefore), the AITC has no moral rights to speak about the party and the present MLAs,” he added.
The Congress leader further maintained that their support to the MDA government was based on issues and not “on the part of decision making”.
Moreover, he justified that although the BJP is part of the government but it is not running the government.
“If BJP is leading the government, we will not support (even on) issue base,” Sawkmie stated.
