Congress MLA slams CM for blaming past govt
Congress legislator from Rangsakona Zenith Sangma has slammed the Chief Minister Conrad K Sangma for blaming the past government.
He was reacting to the reply of the Chief Minister on the short duration discussion on the failure of governance in the state during the last day of the Assembly’s autumn session here on Friday.
“It has been seen that the Chief Minister while replying always used to compare with the past governments rather than taking responsibilities as to what is going on in his tenure and what has to be done in the days to come,” Zenith said.
“He used to talk in the air without any facts and figures. Like I was listening to his reply, he was mentioning about Assembly building that nothing was done throughout the past during the Congress government and this government is now doing and it is going to be completed within this year. Is it practical?” he asked.
According to him, lots of engagement, due diligence was done beforehand during Congress time including the tendering process.
He said it was the then state government which ensured an appropriate location was identified for the establishment of a permanent campus of the Assembly secretariat.
“I was the then minister of sports and youth affairs… We have given a land of 80 acres (which we are intending to create a sports complex) for the construction of the Assembly building and secretariat,” he said.
The MLA further stated that he wanted the chief minister to give a proper date as to when senior citizens did not get their old age pension instead of making claims without basing it on facts and figures.
“As he (CM) is not a member of the opposition bench, he is the chief minister of the state, he cannot afford to give any wrong information on the floor of the house that precisely what I was trying to seek clarification from the chief minister,” he added.
