Congress not sending feelers to former leaders: Dr Chellakumar

AICC in-charge Meghalaya Dr A Chellakumar on Saturday said that the party is not sending any feelers to former leaders including leader of opposition and AITC leader Mukul Sangma.

“No we have not sent any feelers to anybody but if someone wants to join the Congress party, yes we welcome it,” Dr Chellakumar told reporters. He was reacting to a question on whether the party is reaching out to former leaders for joining back its fold.

“I want all Congressmen to come back to the Congress to strengthen the Congress not only for the interest of the Congress but it is in the interest of the state of Meghalaya and also the nation,” the AICC incharge said.

Stating that the Congress is running after anybody, Dr Chellakumar said, “Everybody knows what is going on in the country today so we welcome it but we are not giving any intuition to anybody and we are not running after anybody. If anybody wants to join, let them come forward.”

Asked, he said, “First of all they (former leaders) have to make up their minds. So let them come out open then we will see that.”
