Congress question Centre’s delay to decide on ILP implementation in M’laya
Opposition Congress legislator from Mawlai PT Sawkmie on Monday questioned the delay of the Centre to take a call on the demand for implementing the Inner Line Permit (ILP) in Meghalaya.
“Why the Union Home Minister Amit Shah is silent about the Inner Line Permit in the state of Meghalaya,” Sawkmie said in a statement.
He said that the Government of India has taken a call to form the central panel to remove the Armed Forces Special Powers Act (AFSPA) from Nagaland. He added that the removal is not only in Nagaland but the whole of North Eastern states.
Sawkmie however said that three Christmas have been celebrated every since the day Shah had promised (to discuss about the long pending demand for implementing the ILP in Meghalaya).
He further urged the Union Home Minister to speed up taking a decision on this important issue.
The ILP resolution passed by the Meghalaya Legislative Assembly in 2019 is still lying pending with the Centre for its approval.
