Congress slams MDA govt over Ichamati-clash incident, says a fallout of CAA
The opposition Congress has termed the clash at Ichamati near Shella as fallout of the Citizenship Amendment Act (CAA) as it slammed the state government’s failure to deal with the situation.
“Deeply pained to see the ugly turn of events resulting in nasty communal violence and loss of precious life of one of our potential young men and injury to many in our state as a fallout of the unacceptable, divisive CAA and condemn the incident and perpetrators of the crime,” Leader of Opposition Mukul Sangma said in a statement issued here on Saturday.
He said the Nation is in turmoil because of the mistrust and hatred generated by the intent and the foreseeable fallout of the CAA adding “It is only a strong indication of the justification of the demand for repeal of this divisive act- the CAA.”
“We are deeply concerned on the situation unfolding following yesterday’s ugly incident and urge upon every citizen to help restoration of peace in the state,” Sangma said.
“The state government’s failure to prevent the ugly turn of events is highly condemnable and it must wake up and deal with the situation appropriately,” he added.
