Congress stage silent protest against Gujarat HC’s ruling on Rahul Gandhi’s defamation case
Opposition Congress on Wednesday staged a silent protest against the recent conviction of its leader Rahul Gandhi in a defamation case.
Speaking to reporters, Pala said, “Our intention is to stand with Rahul Gandhi. It is to show that we are with you whatever may be the case.”
“We started our meeting with prayers for his future relief. People should know and India should be safe and they should know that freedom of speech, freedom of expression should be there – with that in mind we started our prayers today.”
Pala said that the party was supposed to organize the protest in a big way. “However, it is difficult for us to organize a big protest within two days. You are right, we are planning to organize in a big way. We will definitely do something,” he added.
CLP leader Ronnie V Lyngdoh said the party had lodged a silent protest against the ruling of the Gujarat High Court against Rahul Gandhi. “We have lodged a silent protest throughout the country and MPCC has done the same to hold this silent protest against the action against our leader Rahul Gandhi,” he said.
