Congress stages protest against holding of JEE-NEET examinations
Opposition Congress in the state on Friday staged a protest in support of the genuine demand of the students and parents to postpone the JEE-NEET Examinations due to COVID-19.
The protest led by the Meghalaya Pradesh Congress Committee (MPCC) working president James S Lyngdoh began with a massive online campaign “Speak up for student safety”.
Later, members including MLAs and office bearers from the district and block committees, waged placards demanding immediate postponement of the JEE-NEET in the interest of the safety of the students.
Addressing the gathering, Lyngdoh regretted that the Modi Government was trying to bulldoze their plan of holding JEE-NEET against the interest of the students, who have prepared for the exam for the last two years.
He deplored that the government has not made suitable transport facilities for all candidates and feared that in the process the poor and the students of the remote areas would be left out. He wanted to know whether there will be another examination for all those who are left out.
Others who spoke on the occasion included Bajop Pyngrope, MDC, Secretary, Meghalaya PCC and Bansharailang Pyngrope, president, National Student Union of India (NSUI), Meghalaya.
