In an expected turn of event, the National People Party’s (NPP) congregation on Tuesday reposed their faith and confidence on the leadership of Meghalaya Chief Minister Conrad K Sangma as their National President for the second consecutive term.
In his Facebook post, Conrad Sangma said “I am humbled and grateful to be Re-elected as National President of the National People’s Party. Thank all our party members for reaffirming their trust in my leadership. Each member has a significant role to play in our collective mission as a party. We are stronger together.”
NPP legislator from North Tura Thomas Sangma was also re-elected to the post of national general secretary.
“Conrad K Sangma was re-elected unopposed as national president of the NPP,” returning officer (RO) Abhaya Kashyap announced during a press conference.
He said similarly, Thomas Sangma was also re-elected as the national general secretary of the party.
According to him, the election to the posts of national president, national treasurer and national general secretary was held today.
However, the post of national treasurer has been declared as vacant, he added.
