Conrad Sangma announces 100-day programme to mark M’laya Day celebration
SHILLONG: To mark the 47th Meghalaya Day celebration, Chief Minister Conrad K Sangma on Monday announced the launch of a 100-day programme which will include making Secretariat an energy efficient building.
Addressing at a government function held at U Soso Tham Auditorium here, Sangma said, “To mark the Meghalaya Day celebration as a government will go for a 100-day programme.”
He said the government is proposing to make the Secretariat an energy efficient building by shifting to the use of LED lights. Similarly, the urban affairs department will also be asked to change existing street lights to LED lights.
“This will be done on PPP mode and the saving made from power consumption will pay back to private investment,” Sangma said.
The Chief Minister also urged the use of electrical vehicles.
“All departments including health, agriculture, tourism and others will ask to organise and complete programmes within the specified time,” he said
Sangma further emphasized on the need for the state to work with other sister states and said, “We plan to partner with one of the big states to learn and get investment.”
Meanwhile, the Chief Minister also asked the banks to complete the target of extending loans to over 2,000 self-help groups (SHG’s) within 100 days.
