Containment measures in Meghalaya extended from May 31
The state government has decided to extend the containment measures across the state from May 31, in a bid to contain the spread of the second wave of COVID-19 pandemic.
“Containment measures will be further extended from May 31 till further orders,” Deputy Chief Minister Prestone Tynsong told reporters after a review meeting held on Friday.
These containment measures are as follows:-
- Political, public, social and religious gatherings are not permitted including conference meeting and trainings
- Entry of tourists from outside the state shall not be permitted and all tourist spots shall remain closed
- Sports activities are not permitted
- Inter state movement of persons shall be restricted but this restriction will not be applicable to the transit vehicles who hav to pass through the state of Meghalaya.
- International border trade or export activities will be allowed but regulation is entrusted to the concerned deputy commissioners to issue and also to regulate accordingly
- The govt has authorized all DCs to impose restrictions in their respective districts depending on the local situation and also SDO Civils need to be authorized in their respective jurisdictions.
