Containment Measures reimposed in East Jaintia Hills
East Jaintia Hills District Magistrate, Ethelbert Kharmalki, IAS reimposed Containment Measures in the entire district from 4 PM of May 31 till 5 Am of June 7.
The order was issued in view of the continuous large numbers of COVID-19 cases being detected in the State as well in the District, and hospital bed occupancy nearing saturation in Shillong and Jowai.
In his order, the Disrict Magistrate banned Inter-District Movement. No person is to step out without valid reasons. Vehicles plying without passes will be liable for strict penalties. Any one in defiance of orders is liable for arrest.
Major market areas of Khliehriat East & West, whole of Ladrymbai, Umpleng, Chiehruphi, Lumshnong. Sohkymphor, Sookilo, Saipung, Samasi, Jalaphet, Rymbai, Wapung, Sutnga, Batwa and Umkiang will be open on 4th June 2021 to be regulated by Durbar Chnong / VDPs and Market Committees.
Stand alone locality shops will be permitted from 2:00 PM up to 6:00 PM only with strict protocols / advisories and to be regulated by the Durbar Chnong / VDPs.
In-situ construction works for Government and Private Projects that do not involve movement of labour are from this office.
Political, public, social and religious gatherings including conferences, meetings & trainings, weddings and sporting activities are not permitted.
Only Central Government offices as notified by Home (Political) Department and State Government offices as notified by Personnel & A.R (A) Department are permitted to open, at limited strength.
State Bank of India and Punjab National Banks, Khliehriat Branches shall function with limited staff for the purpose of Government transactions only. All other banks in the District are permitted to open only on the 31st May 2021 and 4th June 2021 with limited staff for the purpose of urgent transactions only and to strictly observe the protocols/advisories issued by the Health Department.
All Post Offices are permitted on the 1st up to 5th Jane 2021 with limited staff. They shall close by 3:00 PM
Authorized Home Delivery Services only will be permitted.
Funeral gatherings should be restricted to 20 persons only.
Exemptions:
- Health services including emergency services and vaccination. Person(s) moving for vaccination should be able to produce proof of COWIN registration and slot booking.
- Medicines and Pharmaceuticals
- Movement of essential goods
- Movement for medical emergencies.
- Persons travelling on Essential Government duty viz.,
a. Medical Teams and officials on COVID-19 Duty.
b. Police, Security and Armed Forces
c. Civil Defence and Home Guards.
d. Fire & Emergency Services
e. Electricity f. PHE.
g. Public Distribution System
h. PWD.
i. Information and Public Relations.
j. Telecommunication services. - Print & Electronic Media.
- Petrol pumps.
- LPG Distributors.
- Farming activities in rural areas (including betel nut and betel leaf).
- MGNREGA activities in rural areas.
- Essential Veterinary services including feed and fodder movement for farmers.
