Containment Measures to remain in force in West Jaintia Hills | Know what’s allowed, what’s not
The District Magistrate, West Jaintia on Saturday has extended corona night curfew in the district as a part of Containment Measures in the entire District with immediate effect and until further order to safeguard the citizens of the district from the uncontrollable surge of Covid-19 cases.
Night Curfew will start from 8 pm sharp to 5 am daily.
Restricted Activities
Political, public, social and religious gatherings are not permitted including conference, meetings and trainings.
Funeral gathering to be restricted to 20 persons with prior permission of the Deputy Commissioner/Sub-Divisional Officer (Civil) Amlarem.
Engagement Marriages ceremonies outside religious places/places of worship to be restricted to 20 persons with prior permission from the Deputy Commissioner, West Jaintia Hills District, Jowai/Sub-Divisional Officer (Civil) Amlarem.
Wedding reception is not permitted.
All weekly markets shall remain closed
Inter-State movement of persons shall continue to be restricted. This shall not apply for transit vehicles of Assam/Tripura/Manipur/ Mizoram. All Transit Vehicles shall not be permitted to park in any inhabited Villages along the National Highway NH-06 (old name NH-44) under the jurisdiction of West Jaintia Hills District, Meghalaya.
Permitted Activities.
50% of shops are permitted to open at lawmusiang, CNI Market, lawchyiap (JPC Market), law Seinraij and lawthymme, Ladthalaboh, Jowai to be strictly followed and regulated by the Market Committees between 9.00 AM to 6.00 PM

Market Committees are directed to implement the following steps: –
To appoint sufficient number of Officials/ Staff / Volunteers to implement mandatory wearing of Masks and physical distancing.
To place Washing Basin with running water in the Market area.
Selling of any kind of items in footpaths and roadside are strictly prohibited.
Failure to strictly regulate and implement the direction above shall result to closure of the shop/market without prior notice.
50% of shops are permitted to open at Temporary Vending Zones law Seinraij, lawmusiang. lawchyiap (JPC Market) Chutwakhu and MTC Parking Lot, lawmusiang to be strictly followed and regulated by the Market Committees/Town Vending Committee between 9.00 AM to 6.00 PM.

Market committee/Town Vending Committee are directed to implement the following steps

To place Washing Basin with running water in the Market area
Selling of any kind of items in footpaths and roadside are strictly prohibited. Action shall be taken against violators in accordance with law. The Vendors identified by Town Vending Committee shall contact the Market Committees for allotment of space. The District Urban Planner – cum- Secretary, Town Vending Committee shall furnish the name of Street Vendors to the Market Committees Chief Executive Officer, Jowai Municipal Board
Failure to strictly regulate and implement the direction above shall result to closure of the shop/market without prior notice.
Opening of Essential and non-Essential Shops are permitted to open from Monday to Saturday between 9.00 AM to 6.00 PM.
Lay Bye Market Lalong is permitted to open on Odd/Even number from Monday to Saturday between 9.00 AM to 6.00 PM subject to strictly follow the SOP of the Lay Bye Market Committee. Vehicles for transportation of Wholesale Vegetables are not permitted to enter Jowai Town.
Construction activities including road construction etc. are permitted subject to strict compliance of Covid -19 Protocols.
Banks and Post Office may function at 100% strength and shall close at 5.00 PM daily. 8. Ecommerce activities and Courier Services are permitted subject to strict compliance of Covid – 19 Protocols.
Central Government Offices and State Government Offices may function at 100% strength and shall close at 5.00 PM daily.
50% Movement of Public/Private transport within the District is permitted with 50% of the existing capacity from 9.00 AM to 6.00 PM as follows:–
Monday- vehicle registration number ending with 1 (One), 3 (Three), 5 (Five), 7 (Seven) & 9 (Nine)
Tuesday- vehicle registration number ending 0 (Zero), 2 (Two), 4 (Four), 6 (Six) & 8 (Eight)
Wednesday- vehicle registration number ending 1 (one), 3 (Three), 5 (Five), 7 (Seven) & 9 (Nine)
Thursday-vehicle registration number ending 0 (Zero), 2 (Two), 4 (Four), 6 (Six) & 8 (Eight)
Friday-vehicle registration number ending 1 (One). 3 (Three), 5 (Five), 7 (Seven) & 9 (Nine)
Saturday-vehicle registration number ending 0 (Zero), (Two), 4 (Four), 6 (Six) & 8 (Eight) 11.
50 % Inter-District Movement of commercial vehicles is permitted from West Jaintia Hills District to East Khasi Hills District w.e.f. 06.09.2021 as per the following arrangement:–
Monday, Wednesday & Friday vehicle number ending with 0, 2, 4, 6 & 8
Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday vehicle number ending with 1, 3, 5, 7 & 9
Seating Capacity will strictly adhere as per order of the Commissioner, Transport
All Commercial Vehicles coming from West Jaintia Hills are directed to park in Boucher Road, Shillong. Drivers are to ensure that all passengers wear Masks and that there is proper social Distancing among them.
Operation of Border Trade through Tamabil ICP Amlarem Sub – Division, West Jaintia Hills District subject to strictly follow with the SOP issued by the SDO (Civil) Amlarem. In addition, SOPs and other Protocols already put in place or being put in place by the Health and Family Welfare and the Ministry of Home Affairs, Government of India to contain the spread of Covid-19 which must be strictly complied with.
Religious places/places of worship are permitted to re-open in the District subject to compliance with the SOP issued by Home (Political) Department. Solemnization of marriages in religious places/places of worship shall be as per the aforementioned SOP.
Gymnasiums/Yoga Institutes/fitness Centres are permitted to re-open subject to prior permission from the Deputy Commissioner, West Jaintia Hills District, Jowai/Sub-Divisional Officer (Civil) Amlarem.
Movement of skilled manpower for construction activities subject to prior permission from the Deputy Commissioner, West Jaintia Hills District, Jowai/Sub-Divisional Officer (Civil) Amlarem.
Public Parks having regulated entry are permitted to open to vaccinated persons with due intimation to the Deputy Commissioner, West Jaintia Hills District, Jowai /Sub-Divisional Officer (Civil) Amlarem.
The following sports activities are permitted subject to compliance with the SOP’s issued by the Sports & Youth Affairs Department for resumption of Recreational and Competitive Sports subject to obtain prior permission from the Deputy Commissioner, West Jaintia Hills District, Jowai/Sub-Divisional Officer (Civil) Amlarem.
Non-Contact viz; Archery, Shooting, Cycling, Athletics and Running.
Indirect Contact Sports viz: Golf, Lawn Tennis, Badminton, Table Tennis, Snooker, Weightlifting and Billiards.
Minimal-Contact Sports viz; Football, Hockey, Volleyball, Basketball, Handball and Cricket for training purposes only by Sports Clubs and Associations.
Swimming in places with regulated entry such as resorts club pools and public with staggered timing and prior bookings.
Sports competitions for Non-Contact, Indirect Contact and Minimal Contact are allowed only for officials with no spectators.
Indirect Contact, Minimal Contact and Sports Competition are allowed for persons above 18 years who are vaccinated.
Colleges/Educational Institutions are permitted to open in Urban and Rural areas. The principal of the Colleges shall monitor for strict SOP issued by the Education Department.
Re-opening of Educational Institutions as per SOP issued by Educational Department.

The District School Education Officer/Sub-Divisional School Education Officer shall monitor for strict compliance of the SOP issued by Education Department, Govt. of Meghalaya.
Re-opening of tourism for local, domestic and international tourists. The Tourist Officer, West Jaintia Hills District shall monitor for strict compliance of the SOP issued by Tourism Department, Govt. of Meghalaya
Citizens are requested to restrict themselves within their respective places in order to contain the further spread of Covid-19 cases.
All permitted activities above are subject to compliance to these guidelines and the social distancing protocols issued by the Health & Family Welfare Department, Government of Meghalaya.
Wearing of Face Mask/Covering mouth and nose when moving around is mandatory and spitting & smoking in the public place including shops and workplaces is prohibited. Penalty will be imposed to violators by the Designated Officers who have been empowered under section 2 of the Epidemic Diseases Act, 1897.
