Containment Zone declared in Assam-Meghalaya border’s areas after spike of COVID-19’s cases
The Ri Bhoi District Magistrate has declared areas in around Byrnihat and Khanapara as Containment Zone from July 4 to 18, 2020 to contain the spread of COVID-19 in the areas.
The official order was issued vide no. DCRB(CN)/COVID-19/1/2020/377 Dated, Nongpoh the 4 July, 2020 by District Magistrate R M Kurbah, IAS.
This is in view of the increased detection of COVID-19 Positive patient in some persons who is the inhabitants of 13 Mile Tamulikuchi, Byrnihat and Khanapara area District, in the interest of public safety and to prevent the further spread of COVID- 19 virus in these area.
The order said that it has become necessary to contain the disease within a defined geographic areas by early detection, breaking the chain of transmissions and thus preventing its spread to new areas.
The order also said that in order to enable the Health & Family Welfare Department to trace the contacts and active search far cases through physical house to house surveillance by special teams.
“In exercise of the powers confered upon me under section 144 Cr.PC read together with
Regulation 3 of the Meghalaya Epidemic Diseases, CoVD-19 Regulations, 2020 and Guidelines No5 (i) of Order Dated 1 May, 2020 of Government of India in the Ministry of Home Affairs and as per Recommendation by the District Medical and Health officer, Ri Bhoi District Nongpoh do hereby declared the following area as CONTAINMENT ZONE and also prohibit as follows w.e.f 4 July 2030 to 18 July, 2020.
The area under CONTAINMENT ZONE are 13 Mile, Tamulikuchi, Baridua till Khanapara,” Kurbah said.
The order prohibit movement except for medical emergencies and essential goods and services. Any unauthorized entry and exit into the notified CONTAINMENT ZONE is barred till the area is declared safe as per guidelines of Ministry of Health & Family Welfare, Government of India.
