Coordinate with other states agencies to trace missing cabbie
The Synjuk Ki Waheh Shnong looksi Saphai Circle on Wednesday urged the Meghalaya Police to take a serious note on frequent kidnapping of local tourist taxi drivers plying in Jaintia Hills region.
In a letter to the Superintendent of Police, the Synjuk informed that Damehipaia Papeng a tourist taxi driver by profession and a permanent resident of Khonshnong Village and presently residing in Mih Myntdu after his marriage to Nidawanroi Rymbai of Mihmyntdu Village was missing since August 10, last.
Papeng left his home at around 8:00 am in the morning with his Taxi vehicle bearing No. ML04 D 2009 for plying passengers from Jowai to Lad-Rymbai. Till date his whereabout is not known and his Mobile number 9862702563 is in Switch Off mode.
The letter informed a missing report has been lodged at Jowai Police Station West Jaintia Hills, Jowai.
The relatives went to search for him and on reaching Lumshnong Toll Gate on August 11, last at around 4:00 Pm.
“On our request to the official of the Lumshnong Toll Gate, it is seen in the CCTV installed there at the Toll Gate, the vehicle has crossed the Toll Gate at around 2:08 Pm on the 10/08/2022,” the Synjuk said.
The Synjuk informed during past two months there has been several similar missing cases reported in both the District of Jaintia Hills.
They felt that of no quick action is taken on the part of the Law Protecting Agency. The Police Department, many more similar cases might come in the near future, if this maniac is not stop our innocent Tribal People can be a victim of such rampant kidnapping and murder.
They urged the SP to coordinate with other State Agencies and inter State Agency in order to track the culprits and also rescued Damehipaia Papeng.
